I promised Stephanie that nothing would change when my fiancée Ella and her four kids moved in—her room, bathroom, and even toaster oven were hers alone. But less than 24 hours after they arrived, I came home to find her belongings dumped in the basement and my daughter’s cherished room overtaken by Ella’s daughters, Mia and Grace.
