Actor Adam Turck, 35, was fatally shot in Richmond after stepping in to de-escalate a violent argument outside a Church Hill apartment. Police say the 19-year-old boyfriend pulled a handgun, shot Turck, then shot himself. Turck later died at the hospital; the woman he protected and his dog, Lana, were unharmed.
His family called him a hero: “If Adam hadn’t been there, that woman would not be alive today.” They added that his final act was organ donation.
Turck was a fixture of the local stage, a Virginia Rep standout and 2018 Best Actor winner, recently cast in “Dracula: A Comedy of Horrors.” Friends remembered him as loyal, compassionate, and fearless in the face of injustice.
Tributes are pouring in from Richmond’s arts and fitness communities. His loved ones asked people to honor him by “looking up,” echoing his favorite Superman poster—and by the lives his donation will save.
