Actor Colin Egglesfield, best known for Something Borrowed alongside Kate Hudson, John Krasinski, and Ginnifer Goodwin, has revealed he is battling prostate cancer. This comes years after overcoming two bouts with testicular cancer in the early 2000s. Sharing the news on Instagram, the 51-year-old reflected on a quote from a past interview: “It’s not the hand that you’ve been dealt… It’s how you play the cards that counts.”
Egglesfield said the start of the year has been difficult, but early detection gave him hope. After a year of research and consulting with healthcare professionals, he chose to have surgery, emphasizing the importance of checkups, self-advocacy, and seeking help when needed. “Hopefully this is a reminder to everyone that you’re not alone,” he wrote.
Born in Michigan on February 9, 1973, Egglesfield earned a biology degree from the University of Iowa before being scouted by a modeling agency. His modeling career with brands like Versace and Calvin Klein eventually led to acting roles, including All My Children, The Client List, Melrose Place, and Lucifer.
Beyond acting, Egglesfield is the author of the motivational book Agile Artist and is active in philanthropy, supporting cancer research and youth empowerment programs. His resilience, on and off screen, continues to inspire fans worldwide.
