Brandon Blackstock’s daughter Savannah posted a picture with her father before his death.

On July 20, Savannah, 23, shared a photo of herself and the music manager, who died on Aug. 7. Blackstock had his arm around Savannah in the photo, posing among the trees and greenery.

“back home to the mountains & my daddy,” she wrote on Facebook alongside pictures of her 3-year-old Lake, whom she shares with husband Quentin Lee.

Blackstock shares Savannah and son, Seth, from his previous marriage to Melissa Ashworth.

A couple of weeks before posting the family photos, Savannah announced that she was pregnant.

“We’ve been keeping a couple sweet surprises,” the Florida-based realtor wrote on Instagram on July 5. Her page has since been set to private. “One little girl will be making her arrival at the beginning of January and another beautiful girl named Julianna who has already been one of the greatest blessings to our family.”

A rep for Blackstock’s family told PEOPLE in a statement that the former music manager died on Aug. 7. “It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away,” the statement said.

“Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”

The day before he died, his ex-wife, Kelly Clarkson, announced that she was postponing her Las Vegas shows for the remainder of August to be present for their children, daughter River, 11 and son Remington, 9, as Blackstock was “ill.”

“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,” Clarkson, 43, wrote on Instagram. She apologized to her fans and thanked them for their understanding.

Clarkson and Blackstock wed in 2013. Clarkson filed for divorce in 2020, and it was finalized two years later. Blackstock was diagnosed with cancer following their divorce.

A source told PEOPLE that the American Idol winner was “staying strong” for her children and is
“heartbroken” for them.

“Kelly and Brandon had their ups and downs, but at the end of the day, he was the father of her children and she is absolutely heartbroken for them,” the source said. “Her kids are her entire world, and she’s staying strong for their sake.”
