George Strait Raises Over $6 Million For Texas Flood Victims

On July 27th, George Strait hosted an intimate benefit concert to support the victims of the devastating Texas floods. Treacherous flash flooding ripped through central Texas on July 4th, 2025, claiming at least 135 lives and causing an estimated $1.1 billion in residential building damage.

The event became the deadliest inland flash flood in the U.S. since 1976 and marks one of Texas’s most devastating natural disasters in history.

Various country music artists stepped up to help in the aftermath, with many planning virtual and live concert performances to raise funds. George Strait’s Strait to the Heart benefit was hosted in conjunction with Vaqueros del Mar at the Estancia at Thunder Valley in Boerne, Texas.

Due to the small size of the venue and limited seating, ticket prices began at $1,000. Local first responders received complimentary tickets. Still, the concert sold out in a matter of a few days.

Performers for the evening included Riley Green, Jamey Johnson, Randy Houser, and more. Garth Brooks even popped in for a surprise appearance.

In total, the event raised a staggering $6.25 million, to be delivered directly to affected families and used for recovery efforts through the 501(c)(3) Vaqueros del Mar Texas Flood Relief Fund.

Flood Victims Receive Funds From Strait To The Heart

Two weeks later, Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who attended the benefit show, traveled to Ingram, Texas, on August 9th to help distribute the funds. He wrote:

“Our goal is to put a roof over the heads of families whose primary homes were destroyed by the deadly floods last month.”

Abbott personally handed $25,000 checks to Texas residents who lost their homes in the flood. While the initial goal is to help provide housing for those affected, the Governor recognized the additional needs for vehicles, transportation, and more.

“This is just the beginning,” says Abbott, “More help is on the way.”
