Lainey Wilson and her fiancé, former NFL quarterback Devlin “Duck” Hodges, are setting the record straight — and having a little fun while they’re at it. After bizarre AI-generated rumors claimed the couple had secretly tied the knot and welcomed a baby, the pair took to social media with a laugh-out-loud video to clear the air. Leaning into their signature humor, they poked fun at the fake headlines while showing fans just how solid — and drama-free — their real-life love story is. The result? A viral moment that proves you can silence the rumor mill with a wink, a smile, and a perfectly timed punchline.

Lainey Wilson and her soon-to-be husband Devlin “Duck” Hodges are shutting down speculation that they are expecting a child or have gotten married, when in fact both of these things are untrue.

On Thursday evening (July 17), following Wilson’s Tough As Nails Country Music Hall of Fame exhibit opening, Hodges took to his Instagram stories alongside Wilson to address the rumors circulating online and put an end to the gossip once and for all. In that clip, which has since been deleted, Devlin Hodges is seen asking his fiancée, Wilson, questions like “did we get married?” and “are we having a baby?” to which she replied with a comical “no.”

Hodges then returned to social media on Saturday afternoon (July 19), this time sharing a black-and-white video on his Instagram feed. “Attention at those who make AI photos regarding our wedding, marriage and whatever other BS that comes out. Sincerely, The couple who hasn’t had a wedding or kids yet,” Hodges captioned the brief clip.

Lainey Wilson, who is off camera filming the video, asked Hodges, “What are you gonna tell AI?” Hodges replied, laughing, “If you’re gonna put out stuff about us, I mean, at least make us look good. Like, we look like sh*t.”

The rumors began after AI-generated images of the couple circulated on social media, falsely depicting that the beloved country couple had tied the knot and announced they were expecting a child, neither of which is true.

While Lainey Wilson and Devlin Hodges are not yet married or expecting a child, the beloved country couple are happily engaged and enjoying their lives together.

Lainey Wilson and Devlin Hodges first crossed paths in Nashville in 2021, introduced by mutual friends. Their first date took place at a bar called Silverado Dance Hall & Saloon, which has since closed. “We went to this old place called Silverados, and it had free beer and wine from 5 to 10 p.m., I was like, ‘This boy likes to ball on a budget too. This is gonna work out.’” Wilson told People. At the start of their romance, Hodges was playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers, while the “4x4xU” singer was just starting to make waves in Country music.

After quietly dating for more than two years, they made their relationship public in May 2023 by walking the red carpet together at the 58th Academy of Country Music Awards (ACM Awards). Since then, the pair have moved in together, gotten engaged, walked several red carpets, supported each other publicly on numerous occasions, and are now preparing for marriage.

The couple have been engaged now for nearly two months, and Wilson confessed that she and her fiancé “haven’t even started planning” their wedding yet but intend to “really sit down and make that a priority” soon. As for the big day itself, Lainey Wilson shared that it will probably be “something very, very simple.”

Wilson often jokes that Hodges made her wait four years for a ring, so she is going to make him four years to official tie the knot. “He made me wait for four years. I’m gonna make him wait before we start planning this thing,” she admitted in a recent interview with Country Living.

Personal life aside, Lainey Wilson has been very busy with her career from releasing her latest single, “Somewhere Over Laredo,” to gearing up for her massive Whirlwind World Tour, kicking off overseas in March 2026. She even just visited her newly opened exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame, Lainey Wilson: Tough As Nails, which remains open now through June 2026, and launched a new stylish Western footwear line, Golden West Boots.
