When my four-year-old daughter, Chloe, begged me to leave my girlfriend Lily’s house, her trembling voice cut through me like a knife. What was meant to be a cozy evening—our first visit to Lily’s place—suddenly shifted when Chloe whispered in fear that there were “real heads” staring at her from Lily’s closet.
