FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino said Monday that investigators are probing whether Charlie Kirk’s accused assassin acted alone or had help. While one suspect is in custody, Bongino stressed that the bureau is also examining potential accomplices or anyone who may have provided financial or logistical support.
Speaking on Fox News, he explained that rooftop surveillance footage showing the gunman leaping after firing the fatal shot was key to cracking the case. “This is where we got a significant portion of the forensic evidence,” he noted, describing it as the breakthrough that allowed investigators to move quickly.
Bongino confirmed that the suspect had voiced violent intentions before the Sept. 10 shooting. He linked this to patterns seen in other targeted violence cases, where perpetrators often express their plans in advance. Family members and coworkers also told investigators the man had become increasingly political and withdrawn in the weeks before the attack.
According to Bongino, the evidence suggests the suspect was “consumed by ideology” and had deliberately chosen Kirk as his target. He emphasized that no lead will be ignored: “There’s not going to be a stone left unturned.”
