Chris Pratt Responds After Marvel Fans Demand He Be ‘Fired’ Over Charlie Kirk Remarks

Chris Pratt faced backlash after posting condolences for conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was shot and killed at Utah Valley University on September 10. The suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, was arrested and charged with aggravated murder and firearms offenses. Kirk’s death left his wife, Erika, and their two young children grieving, while the case drew national attention.

Pratt wrote on X, “Praying for Charlie Kirk right now, for his wife and young children, and for our country. God help us.” Meant as compassion, the message immediately divided fans. Critics accused him of siding with Kirk’s politics, and hashtags calling for his removal from Marvel films trended within hours. Supporters, however, defended his right to express sympathy.

Responding to the backlash, Pratt posted a video on Instagram urging people to put down their phones, spend time outdoors, and reconnect with loved ones. Some dismissed the video as empty, while others praised his call for reflection and positivity. The moment highlighted how celebrities are often scrutinized for even simple expressions of faith or grief.

Despite the uproar, there is no sign Marvel or other studios plan to cut ties with Pratt. Industry watchers point to his strong fan base and box office success as likely protection against lasting damage. The debate underscored the tense overlap between celebrity culture, politics, and public perception in today’s polarized environment.
