Both companies said they would replace the show with news programming, citing a responsibility to maintain respectful discourse during a tense national moment.

The remarks, which tied Kirk’s death to political opponents, directly contradicted law enforcement statements that the accused shooter, Tyler Robinson, held left-leaning views with no known conservative ties. Disney suspended the show indefinitely, calling the comments “ill-timed and insensitive,” though later reinstated it. Despite this, many affiliates opted not to air the program.
