Multiple Vehicle Collision Causes Major Delays on Mexico-Querétaro Highway
State of Mexico — A multi-vehicle collision on Wednesday, November 20, caused major traffic disruptions along the Mexico-Querétaro Highway near kilometer 59 in Huehuetoca. Authorities say a trailer truck traveling toward Mexico City lost control near the Jorobas intersection, striking a roadside bank before crashing into five cars and a pickup truck. The impact blocked all three lanes in the north-south direction, prompting a partial highway closure.
Paramedics arrived quickly and treated several people for minor injuries. Although no serious injuries were reported, some individuals were taken to nearby hospitals for further evaluation as a precaution. Early reports suggest that wet road conditions from steady rain may have contributed to the crash, though official investigations remain ongoing.
The incident caused heavy traffic delays throughout the morning, with long backups reported in both directions. In a separate but related event, a tanker trailer spilled fuel at kilometer 95.5 near Soyaniquilpan de Juárez, forcing a full closure of all lanes in that area and compounding congestion along the route.
Authorities continue to investigate both accidents and have urged motorists to drive with extreme caution. Drivers are reminded to reduce speed, keep safe distances, and remain alert — especially during wet or low-visibility conditions — to prevent further collisions.
