Instagram often presents an idealized version of postpartum life, filled with glowing skin and effortless recovery. The reality for many new mothers, however, looks very different.
After giving birth, the body undergoes major physical changes, and recovery is rarely quick or simple. Stretch marks, changes in breast size and shape, fatigue, and discomfort are common parts of postpartum healing—yet they are largely absent from curated social media feeds.
Healing after childbirth is not linear, nor is it the same for every woman. Some recover quickly, while others experience lasting changes for months or even years. Both experiences are normal.
By acknowledging these realities and speaking honestly about postpartum bodies, we can create a more supportive and compassionate environment for new mothers navigating one of the most transformative stages of life.
