Concern is growing for Savannah Guthrie and her family after her mother, Nancy Guthrie, disappeared from her Arizona home over the weekend. Nancy, 84, was last seen Saturday at her residence in the Catalina Foothills north of Tucson, and police were alerted when she failed to attend church the following morning.
Authorities launched an extensive search-and-rescue operation, deploying ground teams and aerial units. Chris Nanos, the sheriff of Pima County, said early on that while no crime had been confirmed, concerns inside the home prompted investigators to treat the case with urgency, especially given Nancy’s age and health.
As the investigation progressed, officials said evidence began pointing toward possible criminal activity. Sheriff Nanos later stated that investigators believe Nancy may have been taken from her home against her will during the night, noting that her limited mobility makes it unlikely she left on her own.
Investigators are now reviewing nearby security footage and analyzing biological evidence collected from the home. Savannah Guthrie has remained off the Today show, asking the public for prayers and information while authorities continue using every available resource to locate her mother and determine what happened.
