The search for 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie has taken a more serious turn after investigators reviewed newly released surveillance footage from outside her Tucson home. Nancy was reported missing on February 1, and the discovery of blood inside the residence quickly raised fears of possible violence. Nearly two weeks later, the FBI shared Nest doorbell footage showing a masked figure near her front door in the early morning hours, intensifying concerns about what may have happened.
The video shows a person dressed in light-colored clothing, wearing gloves and a balaclava, carrying a backpack and what appears to be a firearm. At one point, the individual seems to tamper with the doorbell camera, suggesting an effort to avoid identification. The deliberate behavior and concealment have led experts to question whether the incident was planned rather than a random burglary.
Former FBI agent Mark Harrigan noted that the suspect’s handling of the firearm appeared unusual, possibly indicating inexperience. Body language expert Susan Constantine also pointed out that the backpack appeared full before the person approached the house, which she said is inconsistent with typical burglary patterns. Additional analysis highlighted the suspect’s gait and the lack of specialized nighttime equipment, raising further questions.
Adding to the tension, reports have surfaced of a third ransom note referencing a new Bitcoin wallet, though authorities have not confirmed its authenticity. Investigators continue to withhold key details as the case remains active. For Nancy’s family and community, the priority remains finding clear answers and, above all, ensuring her safe return.
