I Became Guardian of My Twin Sisters After Mom Died — My Fiancée Pretended to Love Them Until I Heard What She Really Said

Six months ago, my life revolved around work deadlines and wedding plans. Then my mom died in a car accident, and overnight I became the legal guardian of my 10-year-old twin sisters, Lily and Maya. My fiancée Jenna moved in to “help,” playing the role of the perfect future stepmom while I tried to hold our shattered world together.

One afternoon I came home early and overheard Jenna telling the girls she planned to push them into foster care after the adoption process, so she could have my house and insurance money without the responsibility. She mocked their grief and called them “someone else’s leftovers.” Instead of confronting her immediately, I decided to expose the truth.

I pretended to agree that the girls should leave and suggested we move up the wedding. At the ceremony, in front of family and friends, I played footage from old nanny cams capturing Jenna’s manipulation and threats. The room fell silent as her real intentions echoed through the speakers. I called off the wedding on the spot and had her escorted out.

Days later, I finalized the twins’ adoption and filed a restraining order. That night, we made spaghetti, lit a candle for Mom, and sat together on the couch—grieving, but safe. Our future looked nothing like the one I’d planned, but it was honest. I chose my sisters, and in the end, that choice made us a real family.
