Reports are emerging of a dangerous escalation across the Persian Gulf. Iranian state television, citing military sources, has announced the launch of attacks targeting U.S. military bases in the region, raising concerns about a widening confrontation.
According to multiple reports, explosions have been heard in several Gulf countries. In Abu Dhabi, a powerful blast was reported as the United Arab Emirates moved to close its airspace. Al Dhafra Air Base, which hosts U.S. forces, was reportedly targeted with ballistic missiles.
In Bahrain, smoke was seen rising from the Al Jufair area, home to the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet headquarters. Meanwhile, authorities in Qatar urged residents to shelter in place as air defenses reportedly intercepted a missile aimed at Al Udeid Air Base, one of the largest U.S. military installations in the Middle East.
Officials in Qatar stated that several attacks were successfully repelled and that the country remains on high alert. Explosions were also reported in Kuwait, where authorities advised citizens to remain indoors and avoid travel near military sites.
