According to reports, the trailer was traveling toward Mexico City when it failed to brake before reaching the Jorobas intersection. It first struck a roadside embankment and then crashed into five cars and a pickup truck. After the impact, the trailer ended up blocking all three north-to-south lanes, leading to a partial highway closure.
Authorities believe the wet road conditions caused by rain may have contributed to the accident, although the exact cause is still under investigation. The conditions on the highway likely made it harder for the driver to stop safely in time.
Paramedics responded to the scene and treated several injured people, most of whom were reported to have minor injuries. Although no serious injuries were confirmed, some of those involved were advised to go to the hospital for further evaluation to avoid possible complications.
