Authorities later said the shooting appeared to be targeted, not random. A hospital employee was shot by a coworker after what police described as a personal falling out. The victim, a 25-year-old man, was treated at the hospital and reported to be in stable condition.
The suspect fled the scene but was arrested a few hours later in Macomb Township. The emergency response included a hospital lockdown, warnings to nearby residents, and extra security measures at nearby schools until the threat was cleared.
Although the hospital later returned to normal operations, the incident left staff, patients, and the surrounding community shaken.
