Cremation and Faith: What Scripture Teaches and Where True Hope Is Found

The Bible most often describes burial as the traditional practice, from the Old Testament to the burial of Jesus. For many believers, burial carries strong symbolism—dignity, remembrance, and trust that death is not the final word.

However, Scripture does not directly command burial or clearly forbid cremation. Many pastors and faith leaders emphasize that intention matters most. When cremation is chosen with respect, prayer, and trust in God, many faith communities view it as compatible with belief.

The central message is that God’s power is not limited by the condition of the body. Whether a body is buried or cremated, faith rests in the promise of life beyond this world. In the end, what matters most is reverence, hope, and trust in something greater.
