After trying peppermint oil, tea tree sprays, chestnuts, sealing cracks, and vacuuming webs, nothing seemed to solve the problem for long. Then a friend suggested an unusual idea: using Vicks VapoRub as a spider repellent.
The idea is that the strong smell of menthol, eucalyptus, camphor, and other ingredients may make treated areas uncomfortable for spiders. Small amounts were placed on cotton balls near windowsills, corners, and behind furniture where spiders often appeared.
Within a few days, there seemed to be fewer spiders around the house. While it is hard to prove Vicks was the only reason, the improvement felt real. Combined with sealing entry points and reducing clutter, it became a simple way to make the home feel more comfortable.
