Waiter hears customer insult boy with Down syndrome and takes a stand

Kim Castillo and her son Milo, who has Down syndrome, were regulars at Laurenzo’s restaurant. One day, a family moved seats after hearing Milo, making a cruel comment about special needs children. Waiter Michael Garcia overheard and, angered by the remark, told the family he wouldn’t serve them.

Despite the risk of upsetting his employer, Michael stood his ground, and the family left. The Laurenzo family supported Michael’s decision, showing that standing up for what’s right can sometimes mean going against customers.

This incident, from 10 years ago, still serves as a reminder of the importance of standing up for people with special needs. Michael’s courage made a lasting impact on Milo and his mother, showing the power of kindness and integrity.
