A horrifying case of animal cruelty shocked the public when a dog was found in a dumpster with his head, tail, and legs wrapped in duct tape. Animal Control responded after a call from someone who thought the noise was a raccoon, only to discover it was a dog in distress. The pup, later named Leo, had food and debris caked in his fur and was in a terrible condition.
The Nebraska Humane Society quickly took Leo in, sedated him, and worked to remove the tape.
Despite the trauma, Leo was healthy and in good spirits. A microchip revealed he had gone missing days earlier, and his owner, Erin Dillon-Pasillas, was relieved to be reunited with him after a stressful search.
While Leo’s return was a relief, the cruelty he endured remains a mystery. The Nebraska Humane Society is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. It’s heartbreaking to think anyone could harm such a sweet dog, but thankfully, Leo is safe and recovering.
