Jason “Sundance” Head, a country singer who gained fame on American Idol in 2007, was tragically shot while on his Texas ranch. Despite being eliminated just one week shy of the American Idol finale, Head continued his music career and later won The Voice in 2016, joining Team Blake Shelton.
According to Head’s agent, Trey Newman, the incident occurred while Head was hunting on his ranch. Head was airlifted to the hospital after being shot in the stomach, but details about the incident remained unclear. His wife, Misty, confirmed the injury and asked fans for prayers for her husband’s recovery.
Newman stated that Head’s vital organs were not hit, and it wasn’t a case of self-harm. The shooting appeared to be an accident, with Head’s 22-caliber rifle inadvertently discharging when it fell out of its holster. The bullet lodged in fatty tissue, and Head was undergoing emergency surgery.
A Facebook update from Misty Head revealed that the incident happened while Sundance was hunting alone, and the accident occurred as he tried to retrieve his rifle. She thanked fans for their support and prayers, urging them to keep her husband in their thoughts as he recovers.
