Figure skater Spencer Lane shared a haunting photo from inside an American Airlines plane just hours before it collided with a Black Hawk helicopter over Washington.
The photo, showing the wing of the aircraft, was captioned with details of his flight from Wichita to Ronald Reagan National Airport. Lane has not been heard from since the crash, and reports confirm he was aboard Flight 5342, which collided with the helicopter, sending both planes into the Potomac River.
US Figure Skating confirmed that athletes, coaches, and families were on board, though names haven’t been released. Lane had posted about his excitement for a skating camp just hours before. Russian champions Yevgenia Shishkova, Vadim Naumov, and their son Maxim Naumov were also reportedly on the flight.
Around 300 responders are still working to recover victims, with 19 bodies found so far. Audio recordings reveal the helicopter was warned about the plane moments before the collision.
