Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman blamed former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for the Democrats’ poor performance in the 2024 elections. In an interview with Politico, Fetterman criticized Pelosi for playing a power role in the Democratic Party, saying she pushed Biden out and helped set the stage for Kamala Harris, only to blame Biden for the party’s failure afterward.
Fetterman pointed to the internal divisions within the Democratic Party, with different factions blaming each other for losing control of the House, Senate, and the presidency to Trump. He also expressed frustration with Pelosi’s criticism of Biden’s decision to endorse Harris, calling it ironic given her age and long tenure in politics.
Fetterman also took issue with Democrats labeling Trump supporters as “fascists,” saying it alienates voters and doesn’t resonate with them. He argued that scolding voters would not help the party win in future elections, urging Democrats to rethink their approach.
Pelosi has faced increasing pressure to step aside following the 2024 election defeat. Teamsters President Sean O’Brien publicly called for her and Sen. Chuck Schumer to resign. Despite these calls, Pelosi has filed for re-election in 2026 and continued to voice her belief that Biden’s decision to support Harris impacted the election’s outcome.
