Apple cider vinegar (ACV) has gained popularity as a solution for various hair issues, including dandruff and dullness. Intrigued by its potential to improve hair texture, shine, and overall health, I decided to try an overnight ACV treatment to test whether these claims were true.
ACV is known for its acidic nature, which helps balance the scalp’s pH. It also contains beneficial vitamins like B vitamins and vitamin C, along with antimicrobial properties that can fight dandruff and scalp infections. With these benefits in mind, I gathered organic ACV, a spray bottle, a shower cap, and a towel, ensuring I did a patch test beforehand to avoid any adverse reactions.
For the application, I diluted the ACV with water in a 1:1 ratio and sprayed it evenly onto my hair, massaging it into the scalp for better circulation. I then covered my hair with a shower cap and went to bed, eager to see how my hair would respond. The next morning, the strong vinegar smell was the first thing I noticed, but after rinsing thoroughly, my hair felt softer and smoother.
After drying my hair, I observed a clear improvement in its texture and shine. My hair looked more vibrant, less frizzy, and my scalp felt refreshed with less dandruff. Scientific research supports these results, as ACV helps balance pH, reduce buildup, and treat scalp issues. While the benefits were apparent, it’s important to use ACV carefully, as its acidity can cause irritation if used too frequently or in high concentrations.
