Pam Bondi has been confirmed as U.S. Attorney General with a 54-46 vote, after a week-long delay due to a procedural hold by Senate Democrats.
Bondi, former Florida Attorney General, emphasized restoring trust and impartiality in the Department of Justice during her testimony.
While her nomination received strong support from Republicans, Democrats, including Senator Adam Schiff, questioned her independence, especially regarding pardons related to the January 6th Capitol riot. Bondi vowed to handle each case independently.
Now confirmed, Bondi faces the challenge of leading the DOJ amid political tensions. Her ability to balance loyalty to the administration with upholding the law will be critical in her new role.
