A tragedy struck in Defiance, Missouri, when a house explosion killed two young children, Julian, 4, and Jamison, 6. Their school had canceled classes due to extreme weather, so they were home when the explosion occurred early Friday morning. While their mother, Evelyn Turpiano, and grandparents managed to escape, the boys couldn’t be saved in time due to the intense fire.
Neighbors described the boys as sweet and full of life, with one saying they “thought school was the coolest thing ever.
” The explosion was heard by nearby residents, and though firefighters rushed to the scene, the fire made it impossible to rescue the children.
The cause of the explosion is still under investigation. The house was owned by the Hoffmann Family of Companies, and Turpiano’s family runs the nearby Defiance RoadHouse. The community is mourning the loss, with support pouring in for the grieving family.
