A powerful 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck north of Honduras on February 8, 2025, triggering tsunami warnings for coastal regions.

The quake, with an epicenter at 17.8°N, 82.5°W, occurred at 23:23 UTC, with waves expected to hit areas like Cuba, Honduras, and the Cayman Islands. Tsunami waves ranging from 0.3 to 3 meters are predicted.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued alerts, noting the waves may reach Puerto Cortes, Honduras, at 00:22 UTC and Santa Cruz del Sur, Cuba, at 03:00 UTC.

Waves will arrive in surges, possibly lasting several hours. No warning has been issued for the U.S., but coastal monitoring is ongoing. Authorities advise residents in affected regions to stay alert.
