On January 29, a PSA Airlines plane collided mid-air with a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter near Washington, D.C., causing both to crash into the icy waters of the Potomac River. Authorities fear all 64 people on the plane and three aboard the helicopter have died.

Brielle, who had previously survived cancer, was proud of her achievements in figure skating, having made a team that was one of her life goals.
