Nearly 12 years after Steve Irwin’s tragic death at 44, his widow, Terri Irwin, shared that Steve never expected to live a long life. He understood the risks of his work and always had a sense that his time might be short, something he voiced before his death.
In an emotional interview, Terri recalled how Steve would have been shocked by the immense outpouring of grief following his death. He passed away in 2006 after being pierced by a stingray barb while filming in Queensland, Australia, during the documentary Ocean’s Deadliest.
Though devastated by his loss, Terri and their children, Bindi and Robert, have channeled their grief into continuing Steve’s legacy. They’ve remained dedicated to animal conservation at the Australia Zoo, keeping his memory alive through their ongoing work.
In April, Steve was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a testament to his lasting impact on the world.
