During a skit, Hanks wore a red MAGA cap and portrayed a character named Doug on a parody game show, Black Jeopardy. His refusal to shake the black host’s hand before making a sarcastic comment about starting a “White Jeopardy” show upset many viewers.
Trump supporters criticized the skit on social media, accusing Hanks and SNL of mocking Trump supporters as racist and ignorant.
Some called the portrayal offensive, claiming it reinforced negative stereotypes of MAGA followers. Despite the backlash, the skit sparked further debate on the portrayal of political divisions in the media.
