Elon Musk, head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has called for a “wave of judicial impeachments” following recent court decisions that blocked key initiatives by the Trump administration. Musk criticized a ruling by Judge John Bates, which reinstated federal health datasets that were removed as part of Trump’s ban on “gender ideology” promotion.
In another case, Musk advocated for impeaching Judge Paul Engelmayer after he blocked DOGE’s access to Treasury Department records, citing concerns over privacy. This decision, which also ordered DOGE to destroy any acquired records, has frustrated Trump, who argued it hindered efforts to address government inefficiencies.
Some Republican lawmakers have responded, with Representative Eli Crane drafting articles of impeachment against Judge Engelmayer for obstructing DOGE’s mandate. These actions reflect growing tensions between the executive branch and the judiciary, as Trump’s administration pushes forward its policy goals.
Meanwhile, Trump’s attempts to remove Federal Election Commission Chairwoman Ellen Weintraub have faced resistance. She challenged the legality of her termination, further highlighting the ongoing conflict between the administration and independent agencies.
