Elon Musk, head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), called for judicial impeachments after court rulings hindered Trump administration initiatives. Musk criticized U.S. District Judge John Bates’ decision to restore federal health datasets, alleging conflict of interest.
Musk also pushed for the impeachment of Judge Paul Engelmayer, who blocked DOGE’s access to Treasury data. Engelmayer’s order also required DOGE to destroy any data it had acquired, further frustrating Musk and Trump.
Trump voiced his frustration with court decisions on his Truth Social platform, questioning rulings that hindered DOGE’s efforts to tackle government inefficiencies.
In response, Republican Representative Eli Crane of Arizona drafted impeachment articles against Judge Engelmayer, while tensions grow between the executive branch, judiciary, and independent agencies under the Trump administration.
