Libby, a work-focused woman, has a bad encounter with a single father and his crying baby in a café, feeling irritated by the disruption. She demands that the father and child be moved or kicked out. Later, Libby faces her own struggles as she gets pregnant and is cut off by her parents for choosing to marry Trevor, a man they disapprove of. After moving in with Trevor, they face financial hardship but manage to support each other.

Months later, Libby attends a job interview with her baby Eve in tow. To her shock, the interviewer turns out to be Jonathan, the single father she had once been rude to.
