I Secretly Fed My Vegan Sister’s Kids Meat — She Banned Me From All Family Events

Kate, 38, wrote to us seeking advice after a conflict with her vegan sister that fractured their family.

The sisters had always been close, even with different lifestyles. Kate respected her sister’s veganism, including raising her two children (ages 6 and 8) vegan but open to choosing meat if desired.

During a sleepover at Kate’s house, her children wanted tacos, and her niece and nephew asked for the same, so she served them meat. She jokingly told them not to mention it to their mom. The next morning, her sister found out and was furious, accusing Kate of betrayal and disregarding her beliefs.

The argument not only strained their relationship but also affected Kate’s standing with their parents, who excluded her from family events. Despite attempts to apologize, her sister remained distant. Kate, missing her family, asked readers for advice on how to mend things.
