Trans ‘Euphoria’ star Hunter Schafer hits out at Trump after new passport lists her as male

Hunter Schafer, the transgender Euphoria star and activist, revealed that her new U.S. passport lists her gender as male, despite her application stating female. She was shocked by the error, which she links to Trump-era policies restricting transgender rights.

Schafer shared her disbelief on TikTok, calling the situation a “harsh reality check.” She explained that she hadn’t updated her birth certificate, leading her to believe agencies cross-reference it when processing passport applications.

While the incorrect gender marker doesn’t change her identity, Schafer stressed the impact of these policies on transgender people. She underscored how this issue affects real lives, not just abstract debates.

The passport issue is part of broader efforts under Trump to roll back transgender protections, including bans on trans women and girls in women’s sports. Schafer emphasized that these policies have tangible consequences for trans individuals nationwide.
