In a heated Oval Office meeting on Friday, President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance confronted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Trump insisted Zelensky should “be thankful” for the billions in U.S. aid provided during the Biden administration after Russia’s invasion.
Vance urged Zelensky to acknowledge the support he has received, while Zelensky claimed he had already expressed gratitude.
Trump pressed Zelensky about the dire situation in Ukraine, suggesting that accepting a cease-fire would be a quicker path to peace.
Zelensky countered that he wanted to end the war but needed guarantees. Trump maintained that a cease-fire would come faster than a formal agreement, emphasizing the urgency of the conflict.
