DHS Secretary Kristi Noem has vowed to crack down on internal leaks regarding immigration enforcement, pledging to fire and prosecute those responsible. Speaking on February 25, 2025, she confirmed that several leakers have been identified and warned of severe consequences. The move follows leaked details of an ICE raid in Los Angeles, which Noem blamed on the FBI, calling the agency “corrupt.”
To track down those responsible, DHS is conducting electronic surveillance, email reviews, and polygraph tests. Noem stressed that leaks jeopardize law enforcement, a concern echoed by Border Czar Tom Homan, who warned that leaked information allows criminals to evade capture or ambush officers.
Attorney General Pam Bondi reinforced the administration’s zero-tolerance approach, promising legal action against those who compromise security. The FBI, however, has denied Noem’s claims, sparking debate over the balance between national security and whistleblower protections.
Amid concerns over aggressive tactics, Noem has hinted at broader reforms to prevent future breaches. While some lawmakers question the approach, the administration remains focused on accountability, cybersecurity, and public trust in federal enforcement operations.
