Lavender Darcangelo is making a big impact on “America’s Got Talent.”
During Tuesday’s episode, the 27-year-old singer captivated both the audience and judges with her powerful performance and inspiring story, earning Heidi Klum’s coveted Golden Buzzer.
Darcangelo, joined by her father Wil, shared her story with the judges, introducing herself as a blind and autistic woman.
“I’ve been singing since I was three years old, but I didn’t speak until I was four and a half,” she explained. She went on to say that she’s taking her chance on “AGT” because she has “a lot of dreams.”
One of those dreams, she revealed, is to create a school that focuses on teaching students based on their unique interests, “A school I would have thrived in.”
She then shared that her dad is actually her adopted father, leaving it to him to tell the full story.
Darcangelo’s performance was nothing short of mesmerizing. The moment she began to sing, the entire audience fell silent, drawn in by the raw emotion and strength of her voice. Her vocal range and control left the judges astonished, and when she finished, the crowd erupted into deafening applause. Tears filled the eyes of many, including Heidi Klum, who was deeply moved by Darcangelo’s emotional delivery.
Without hesitation, Klum stood and pressed the Golden Buzzer, sending Darcangelo straight to the live shows. Confetti fell as she stood in shock, overwhelmed with emotion. “You are an inspiration,” Klum told her, giving her a heartfelt embrace. “Your voice is beautiful, but your heart and spirit shine even brighter.”
Her father, Wil, watched with pride, wiping away tears as he saw his daughter achieve a dream she had worked tirelessly for. “She has never let her challenges define her,” he said. “She’s always believed in herself, and today, the world gets to see what I’ve known all along—she is truly special.”
As Darcangelo left the stage, she was greeted with cheers and encouragement from fellow contestants, a clear sign that her journey on America’s Got Talent was just beginning.
