Sydnie Christmas has become a fan favorite on this year’s Britain’s Got Talent and has made it to the final, which will air on Sunday night at 7:30 p.m.
The 28-year-old from Kent works as a receptionist at a local gym on a zero-hour contract, and despite the outcome of Sunday’s show, she has assured that she will be back at work on Monday morning.
Speaking to The Mirror, she joked, “I’ve already had two weeks off – and I’m on a zero-hours contract. I’ve got rent to pay!”
Sydnie has always dreamed of working full-time in the West End and hopes that BGT will serve as a stepping stone to make that dream a reality.
“In a year’s time, I hope I’m living my dream. I want to be doing what I love for a living instead of rolling towels and making shakes!”

Before her BGT audition, Sydnie was contemplating giving up on her dreams.
Speaking to The Mirror, Sydnie shared, “If you’d have told me on New Year’s Eve that this would be happening in my life five months later, I would have said something. So I’m very happy and a very lucky girl.”
“I’ve done loads of auditions to get into the West End, but it’s always knockbacks, always hearing that you don’t fit.”
She continued, “All my friends are getting married and having babies. I’m still trying to afford rent in London! So I thought, ‘Nothing’s happening for me, I’ll give it one last go… and here we are today!’”
Sydnie appeared on the E4 programme Stage School, which aired for two seasons in 2016 and 2017, showcasing the real struggles of students studying performing arts. The show explored everything from romantic fallouts to stage dramas.
Throughout her journey, Sydnie has had strong support from her family, with both her grandmothers watching her first audition at the Palladium.
Her long-term boyfriend, Max Rizzo, a fellow musical actor from Sicily, has also been by her side. Max is currently signed by an agency that specializes in rising stars.

While she has performed professionally, she is still waiting for her West End debut.
As the recipient of the golden buzzer, Sydnie faced some controversy at the beginning of the audition process, with some fans accusing the show of being fixed once they discovered she already had a musical career.
Sydnie has worked on cruise ships, including with Royal Caribbean International, where she starred as Rizzo in Grease. She also made her London debut as one of the lead voices in Lazarus, featuring the music of David Bowie, at the King’s Cross Theatre, and shared a backstage photo with Hollywood actor Woody Harrelson after he attended the show.
In 2019, she appeared in a German production of Starlight Express as Belle the Bar Car.
Sydnie won the third live semi-final show on Wednesday after receiving a standing ovation for her rendition of Frank Sinatra’s My Way. Judge Amanda Holden was brought to tears, while Simon Cowell, Bruno Tonioli, and Alesha Dixon were in awe of her talent.
Despite her success, Sydnie admitted she was extremely nervous, revealing, “My voice coach had to walk me on to the stage because I was so nervous. I’m very happy it didn’t look that way because I was terrified.”

Following her audition, all four judges were quickly on their feet to applaud Sydnie. Amanda Holden commented, “I had to sit down, I thought I was going to pass out during that. Honestly, Sydnie, when we saw your audition, I had so many people stop me. And tonight, you’ve done even better. I can’t believe your capacity, fire, and strength.”
Sydnie has become a fan favorite and is also highly regarded by the judges. During a press event, both Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden expressed their belief that Sydnie has what it takes to win. When asked who they thought would win, Cowell responded, “I think it’s Sydnie, yeah.”
Reflecting on her journey, Sydnie said, “It feels like a distant memory now. I auditioned in January. I feel like my neck has been in my mouth ever since. I’ve always wanted to do this—perform, entertain, and sing. I went on Britain’s Got Talent hoping I could just give it a shot. After years of auditions, I thought, I haven’t got much to lose now. So, I thought, ‘S*d it, let’s give it a go,’ and then everything went so well, which I didn’t expect at all.”
