Vince Gill and Amy Grant’s daughter, Corinna, joined her dad on stage at Nashville’s “Mother Church,” The Ryman Auditorium for an emotional duet that honored her mom on Friday, August 5.

Corinna and her dad, Gill sang “When My Amy Prays,” which appears on Gill’s 2019 album, Okie. However, Corinna changed the lyrics to “When My Mama Prays.”

“We’re gonna do this song that I wrote for my wife, Amy,” Gill said introducing the performance at the Ryman. “We haven’t been doing it much, but because of her accident and everything she’s been going through, we’ve been thinking a lot about her and I thought how sweet it would be for her youngest [child] to sing the song [that] I wrote for her. Please welcome my kiddo, Corinna Gill,” he said.

Gill and his daughter Corinna performed the song backed by a band, with Corinna becoming emotional as she sang the song’s title lyric. Corinna also changed the words from “when my Amy prays” to “when my mama prays,” noting that she is “just like [her] dad” when it comes to faith. Corinna and her dad, Gill received a standing ovation from the audience.

The performance from Gill and Corrina honored Amy Grant, who is recovering from injuries sustained from a bicycle accident that took place in late July.

Grant was hospitalized following the bicycle accident in which she sustained cuts, lacerations, and bruises. Despite her injuries and being knocked unconscious for 10 to 15 minutes, Grant was in stable condition and was eventually sent home to recover.

As a result of the accident, she was forced to postpone several concerts, which will now take place in April and June of next year.

Back in 2021, Gill discussed how he and wife, Grant’s approaches to faith differ with CMT on Hit Story.

“The song is a testament to my wife and how much I care about her,” Gill shared. “It’s one of my favorite vocals that I’ve ever done.”

“The whole record came from a place of honesty,” he continued, admitting, “The beauty in this song is the vulnerability I paint myself in and in being honest enough to say, ‘while you may assume I’m something because of being married to this very, very prominent Christian singer, my life isn’t quite like that. To me, it’s a really neat testament to we all don’t have to be the same so much to get along and like each other.”

Grant and Gill share daughter Corinna. Both singers have other children from previous marriages.

Corrina and her dad, Gill, previously performed “When My Amy Prays” together onstage in 2020.
