Scotty McCreery was only sixteen years old when he impressed and won the hearts of American Idol judges with his thrilling rendition of Josh Turner’s “Your Man” and Travis Tritt’s “Put Some Drive in Your Country.” You can tell that it’s one of the most memorable moments in the entire history of the iconic reality singing competition. Fans watching at home also quickly fell for the young singer, as well – more particularly with his strong faith and no-frills, sincere country sensibility.

Still, He Always Makes Sure To Pay Homage To His Country Idols Whenever He Can

During a stop by the Grand Ole Opry in 2017, Scotty McCreery paid tribute to heaps of his idols with an impeccable mix of classic tracks from artists like Conway Twitty, Alan Jackson, Randy Travis, John Michael Montgomery, and of course, Johnny Cash.

With swaggering confidence we’ve known him for, McCreery kicked things off with Twitty’s “Hello Darlin’” before moving into a much more playful tune, Travis’ “Forever and Ever Amen.” McCreery strolled around the stage as he delivered the lyrics and nailed the vocals. He then went on with “Folsom Prison Blues,” and Jackson’s country hit “Chattahoochee.”

The talented artists brought things to a close with Montgomery’s toe-tapping tune, “Sold.”

Indeed, there’s no one who could sing the classics quite as good as McCreery! His performance was basically perfect in every way that it’s almost as if he was born in the wrong era.
