Adam Levine and Blake Shelton engage in a fierce competition to persuade 16-year-old Emily Ann Roberts to join their teams after her impressive performance of Lee Ann Womack’s “I Hope You Dance.”
Almost instantly, Levine turned his chair for the talented young singer, while Shelton waited until the very last moment. Emily Ann’s interpretation of Womack’s 2000 country classic closely mirrors the original, as she effortlessly hits even the most challenging notes.
“Country music is something that I absolutely love with all my heart,” the young artist expresses after her captivating performance. “Blake would be a good connection into that…” she trails off, prompting Levine to interject.
Levine argues that if she chooses his team over Shelton’s, he could always seek Shelton’s advice if needed.
“Why would you choose a coach who might turn around and ask me how to guide you?” Shelton counters.
The two coaches continue to debate before Emily Ann ultimately selects Shelton as her coach. She went on to reach the finals of Season 9, narrowly losing to that season’s champion, Jordan Smith.
