Even country superstars have their fangirl moments. When Carnie Wilson of Wilson Phillips crashed daughter Lola’s American Idol audition for an impromptu singalong of their iconic 1992 hit “Hold On,” Carrie Underwood couldn’t hide her excitement. One legendary song, two generations, and a moment no one saw coming—it was pure magic.

Lola Bonfiglio doesn’t have to hold on for her big break anymore. In a sneak peek look at an upcoming episode of American Idol, Carnie Wilson crashes her daughter’s audition. Lola’s aunt, Wendy Wilson, and her dad, Rob Bonfiglio, also appeared in the clip, which was obtained by Entertainment Tonight.

In the video, the Wilson sisters, who were part of the band Wilson Phillips along with Chynna Phillips, join Lola, 18, to do a singalong of their biggest hit, 1992’s “Hold On.”

With Lola’s dad accompanying the women on guitar, the young singer impressively sings alongside her mom and aunt. Judge Carrie Underwood appears particularly into the performance, as she watches on alongside Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan.

No other details about Lola’s audition have been revealed yet. Fans will have to wait until American Idol airs on Sunday at 8/7c to see what Lola sings and if she lands a golden ticket.

Carnie Wilson Opens Up About Her Daughter’s American Idol Audition

In an interview with ET, Carnie explained why she believes American Idol was a good path for Lola to take.

“I thought it was perfect, because the one thing I do love about American Idol… is that they really give all types of people—different styles, different genres—a chance,” she said. “Lola, she’s not this big Broadway-type singer, but she’s got something so honest and pure and lovely, sort of like this Joni Mitchell, Kasey Musgraves type of thing… She’s writing songs now. She’s really getting in to her artistry.”

The proud mom thought that Idol would give her daughter a chance to find herself as an artist, though she’s been exposed to music since before she was born.

“When she was in the womb, I was playing Frank Sinatra with little headphones and putting it up to my belly and going, ‘This kid’s going to be musical whether she likes it or not,’” Carnie said, before joking that she and her husband prayed to not have a tone-deaf child.

Their prayers were answered as Lola “came out practically singing.”

“I admire Lola. She does have this drive, at 18-years-old she’s got the bug,” Carnie said, before reflecting on Lola’s Idol audition. “I can’t describe the feeling, the pride. I respect her for following her dream… This is her calling, her true passion. Her soul shines through when she sings.”
