A tragic bus crash on a mountain road in Bolivia has resulted in the deaths of over thirty individuals. The incident occurred in the Yocalla district, where the bus fell nearly 800 meters into a ravine, as reported by local police.
In addition to the fatalities, 14 people were injured, including four children, with some in critical condition. The accident took place between the cities of Potosí and Oruro, highlighting the dangers of Bolivia’s treacherous mountainous roads.
Authorities suspect that speeding may have played a role in the crash, as the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle. This incident marks the most severe traffic accident in Bolivia this year, following another bus crash last month that claimed 19 lives.
Traffic accidents are a significant issue in Bolivia, with an average of 1,400 fatalities annually in a country of approximately 12 million people. The frequency of such tragedies underscores the urgent need for improved road safety measures.
