Carrie Underwood’s unexpected performance of Bodies by Drowning Pool on American Idol remains one of the wildest and most unforgettable moments of the week. Known for her powerhouse country vocals, Underwood shocked audiences by tackling the intense nu-metal hit, proving her versatility and fearless stage presence in a way that still has fans talking.

Carrie Underwood Singing “Bodies” By Drowning Pool On ‘American Idol’ Is Still The Wildest Thing I’ve Seen This Week

To many, Carrie Underwood is an unassuming singer who’s country through and through. Her recent antics on American Idol, however, has flipped the script. She’s a little wilder than most expect.

American Idol aired season 23’s first episode a couple of days ago. Although it’s only Carrie Underwood’s first day on the job, she’s already made quite the impression. When auditioner Insite stepped up to perform “Bodies” by Drowning Pool, Underwood took the chance to support him.

And support him she did.

In the viral clip, Carrie Underwood stands next to Insite and hilariously (and impressively) provides backing vocals and busts some metal moves.

The auditioner, whose real name is Kobyn Melton, initially performed Korn’s “Freak on a Leash.” But he wanted to impress the judges further, and Underwood decided to join him as he sang “Bodies.”

Although the attention is on the rockin’ country girl, I just want to take a moment to appreciate how awesome Insite is. His vocals were absolutely stellar. I can’t believe we may finally have a metal singer get far in the competition. As a power metal fan myself, you have my full support, Insite.

Longtime fans of the singer may not be totally surprised to see Underwood jamming out to some metal. Not only is she a bit of a metalhead, but also simply knows lots of music across the board.

“That was high school for me…. I’ve even crowd surfed, people, okay,” Carrie Underwood said upon returning to her seat. Just to let people know that she’s a little crazier than people may take her for.

Fans React To Carrie Underwood Jamming Out To Some Metal

Fans took to the comments to share their thoughts on the hilarious moment.

“Carrie knowing the lyrics to this has me absolutely shook,” wrote one.

“She’s always said she listened to metal during workouts,” provided another fan who knows their stuff.

“Can we please get a rock album from Carrie Underwood,” joked another.

“Carrie singing backup for ‘Bodies’ wasn’t on my 2025 roster but here we are,” laughed one more.

The comments are full of people shocked over her love for metal music. Any comments not about Underwood are people obsessing over how good Insite is as a singer.

I wonder if she’ll have any more surprises to show us.
