10 People Who Did Something So Kind It Belongs in a Film

Moving to New York City at 18 was a big change for me, especially coming from a small Southern town. I found myself at a subway ticket machine, completely lost and overwhelmed. As I struggled to buy a MetroCard, a line of impatient commuters formed behind me, and my anxiety grew until I started to cry.

Just then, a kind man stepped in and halted the line. He patiently explained how to use the machine and even bought me a 12-ride card. His encouraging words, “The next time someone yells at you, just yell back,” made me feel supported and hopeful, reminding me that kindness exists even in a bustling city.

When I was twelve, my cousins and I were at a bookstore, excitedly reading our new books when an elderly man approached us. After watching us for a while, he returned with three $20 gift cards, saying he loved seeing kids read. His unexpected generosity moved me to tears and showed me the impact of small acts of kindness.

Years later, I ran out of gas on my way home from work and felt stranded. Fortunately, three people stopped to help me. One man returned with a full gas can, while an undercover police officer assisted in pushing my car to safety. Their kindness reminded me that even in tough situations, there are people willing to lend a hand, and I will always be grateful for their support.
