Kick back, take a deep breath, and let the stress of the week melt away—because Zach Top just served up a soul-soothing, honky-tonk masterpiece. With a voice that carries the weight of country legends, he delivers the perfect tribute to George Jones, bringing weekend vibes straight to your heart. If you needed a reason to unwind, this is it.

It’s Monday and that means another weekend of fun, freedom and relaxation is behind us. More importantly, it means that we’ve got a whole workweek ahead of us before we shed the chains of our jobs for a couple days of R&R. For some, today will be the longest day of the week. Thankfully, we’ve got great country artists like Zach Top out there to make things a little easier to bear.

Last month, Top took to social media to share the perfect song for the weekend. While lounging on a large riding lawnmower, he played a cover of George Jones’ “Finally Friday.” Sure, he posted the video on a Friday afternoon to celebrate the weekend. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t watch the video today and soak in some of those weekend vibes. Watch the “Cold Beer & Country Music” singer’s nod to the best to ever do it below.

Zach Top Delivers the Perfect George Jones Tribute

Zach Top has shown time and again that he knows his stuff when it comes to classic country music. First and foremost, he forged his throwback sound by listening to the artists who inspired the hitmakers of the ’90s. George Jones was among his influences and, in the video above, he showed that he knows Jones’ catalog.

Jones recorded “Finally Friday” for his 1992 album Walls Can Fall. He didn’t release the song as a single but it did get some unsolicited airplay in the early ’90s. The album also contained a cover of Merle Haggard’s “The Bottle Let Me Down” and the mega-collaboration “I Don’t Need Your Rockin’ Chair.”

The lawnmower is a reference to one of the best-known stories about Jones. There was a time when he was a heavy drinker. He would regularly drink until he was out of booze, jump in the car, and drive to the liquor store. Hoping to slow down his destructive drinking, his wife hid the keys to all of the cars. However, she didn’t think to take the keys to the lawnmower. As a result, Jones tried to drive the mower to the liquor store.

The mower in the story was an old John Deere, but the reference still works.
