Tim McGraw and Parker McCollum: “The Collab I Never Saw Coming”

Written by Monty Criswell and Drake Milligan, “Paper Umbrellas” sounds like garden-variety island escapism at first listen. However, the chorus reveals an unexpected layer: Yeah, girl, I’m here to tell ya, paper umbrellas / Look good on top, but they won’t stop the rain.

Announcing the remix in a social media post Friday (March 7), Tim McGraw wrote, “Had to have my friend Parker McCollum join me on this one!”

Additionally, McGraw shared a lyric video to his official YouTube account, much to the delight of fans. “Oh my freaking goodness I already love this song but he added PARKER MCCOLLUM!!” one YouTube user gushed.

Another added, “The collab I never saw coming! It makes the song even better!”

Released in 2023, Standing Room Only was the first bit of new material from McGraw since 2020’s Here on Earth. In a press release, the Louisiana-born artist, 57, deemed the album’s tracklist “some of the most emotional, thought-provoking, and life-affirming music I’ve ever recorded.”

Meanwhile, McCollum, 32, is in the midst of his What Kinda Man Tour, named for his latest No. 1 hit.

McGraw Joins Lineup For Inaugural Nashville Rodeo

On Monday (March 3), Tim McGraw sent his fans into a tailspin with a cryptic social media post.

“Feels like forever since we had a rodeo in Nashville……sure would be nice if someone fixed that!!” the “Live Like You Were Dying” singer wrote.

Fans didn’t have long to speculate on McGraw’s meaning. The next day, the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association announced the Music City Rodeo, its first-ever such event in Nashville.

Tim McGraw, Jelly Roll and Reba McEntire will headline the inaugural three-day festival, set for May 29-31 at Bridgestone Arena in downtown Nashville.
